Barking Cat Studio Policies

COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocols and Procedures

All COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted as of May 31, 2023. Masks are optional.

Our goal is to provide a super-fun, creative and engaging studio art class experience for your child(ren), in as safe a manner as possible.

While we can’t fully control or eliminate the risk of COVID-19, we can do our best to provide an environment that’s as safe and controlled as possible. What we can control is the epic amount of fun we have in the process! Read below for some of the safety measures we have put in place.

1. Class Size

Class size will remain small– 8-10 kids. We may choose to reduce our class size if the Covid 19 infection rate goes up.

2. Masks, Sanitation, Social Distancing

All Barking Cat Studio staff have been fully vaccinated. Masks are optional at this time.

We have always practiced thorough cleanliness and sanitation standards in the studio. Our plastic tables are thoroughly cleaned, sanitized and covered in fresh paper for each class. At scheduled intervals during the day, we disinfect and sanitize surfaces—tables, doors, faucets, soap dispensers, bathroom surfaces, etc.—at minimum prior to arrival and in-between sessions.

Students get hand sanitizer upon arrival and wash their hands with soap and water as needed after projects, after coughing, sneezing or using the restroom, and any other time they wish!

Four students share an art caddy with basic supplies they will use during the week (oil pastels, brushes, pencils, markers, scissors, etc.). We’ll minimize ‘touch points’ and shared materials as best we can.

3. Arrival and Departure  / Daily Wellness Check

Kids with a fever, cough, runny nose, discharge from the eyes, nausea, shortness of breath, diarrhea, or rash should not come to class. If any of these symptoms develop during class, parents or an authorized caregiver will be contacted.

At pick-up, parents or authorized individuals wait outside at a safe distance for staff to bring your child out to you along with their finished art projects ready to take home that day! (Some days they may be empty-handed while their work in progress is drying overnight.)

4. Cancellations / Refunds / Make-Up Classes

In the event New York State goes into pause and forces a business closure, or if a possible exposure risk causes a closure, classes will continue virtually and will include project materials provided in our weekly ArtBag. ArtBags will be available for pick-up at the studio.

We are unable to offer make-up classes at this time. Missed classes do not carry over. There are no refunds for missed classes.

Pricing and Payment

  • All prices in USD. We accept cash, check, Venmo and credit cards.

  • Payment is due at the time of reservation.

  • All prices include materials.

Privacy

  • Your data is protected and secured. We’ll never sell your information.

  • All art classes on Zoom require passwords for security. Only registered individuals are provided with the Zoom class ID and password information for the session.

Cancellation / Make-up Policy

Classes

Class refund for workshops will be given if canceling your registration 20 days before the start of the workshop session. Past that date there is a non-refundable cancellation fee of $150. There is no refunds for a canceled drop-in class. We will issue you a class credit. The remaining balance will be issued as a credit to your account for use on future classes. Credit will expire one year from issuance.

There are no refunds for missed classes and missed classes do not carry over. Unfortunately, we cannot offer make-up classes for a missed class at this time. Except for a canceled class due to an act of nature such as a snowstorm, a make-up class may be scheduled provided there is time to do so between workshop periods.

If we have to cancel a class due to low registration, we will issue a full refund.

Camp

We offer an early pre-registration period for current students and past campers. Registration opens in February for available camp spots.

To secure a registration, registration forms and a 50% camp deposit plus non-refundable registration fee are due at time of registration.

Final camp payment is due on or before March 31. Registrations after April 1, completed registration form and camp fee is due in full at time of registration.

The Health Form due no later than June 1.

Refunds are at the sole discretion of Barking Cat Studio, Inc.

Parties

Due to our busy class schedule, we are unable to host parties at this time.
